Setúbal Moscatel

The Moscatel (Muscat) grape variety originated in Egypt and spread around the Mediterrean from Alexandria, possibly under the Roman Empire. It is an adaptable variety, used in table wines as well as giving rise to the famed fortified wine from Setúbal. There are two types, white from the white Moscatel de Setúbal variety and ‘purple’ from the Moscatel Roxo. A wine may only be given these designations when at least 85% of the grapes used are from the variety in question. This fortified wine is known for its very special aromas and unique flavours. Taste it as part of our Wine & Arrábida tour.
